Contemporary ANZAC Song
Cry for freedom
Dedicated to my Uncle, Colin Terrace,
who participated in the D-Day landing,
Normandy, World War 2
- Hear the cry for freedom
Above the battle’s roar.
A sound of sacrifice
our world has heard before. - Yet, there is hope of harmony,
amidst our world of strife.
Birthing a dream of unity
as we hunger for life. - Yes we will remember
All who’ve gone before,
who when the world was darken’d,
dawn’d light upon our shore. - The fallen stand among us:
All voices blend as one.
Calling us to freedom:
To peace for which we long! - Embrace the love of freedom!
Believe and come along!
Bring their torch of sacrifice!
As family live – love’s song! - Let us unite together,
All voices rise in song.
Praying for harmony:
Our world in u-ni-son! - Yes we will remember
all who’ve gone before,
who when the world was darken’d,
dawn’d light upon our shore.

Well done Gillies. It’s good to see a few of us populating this valuable webpage for BPUC. I always enjoy your poetry

There is choral music to Gillies poem – I wrote it for an Anzac Concert for Adelaide Harmony Choir. Must present it again sometime….. Rosemary Nairn
