Call to Worship
Prayer of Invocation
Loving God, we come bringing all the ins and outs of our living.
Meet us here, we pray.
Jesus Christ, we come desiring to know how we might more fully live your
way.
Open our minds to your word.
Spirit of love, we come receptive to how you might work in us.
Gather us into your compassionate grace. Amen.
We Sing: O let the Son of God enfold you
O let the Son of God enfold you
with his Spirit and his love;
let him fill your heart and satisfy your soul;
O, let him have the things that hold you
and his Spirit, like a dove,
will descend upon your life and make you whole.
Jesus, O Jesus, come and fill our lives;
Jesus, O Jesus, come and fill our lives.
come and sing this song with gladness
as your hearts are filled with joy;
lift your hands in sweet surrender to his name;
O, give him all your tears and sadness,
give him all your years of pain,
and you’ll enter into life in Jesus’ name.
Jesus, O Jesus, come and fill our lives;
Jesus, O Jesus, come and fill our lives.

The Confession of Faith
Let us confess the faith into which we were baptised…..please stand if
you are able:
Do you believe in God who made you and loves you?
We believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
Do you believe in Jesus Christ, your Saviour and Lord?
We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our
Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the
dead.
Do you believe in the Holy Spirit and the continuing work of our
salvation?
We believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

Responses
Friends in Christ, will you promise to maintain a life of worship and
teaching, witness and service so that this child and all the children
among you may grow in the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the
knowledge and love of God?
With God’s help, we will live out our baptism
As a loving community in Christ:
Nurturing one another in faith,
Upholding one another in prayer,
And encouraging one another in service.
We Sing: Father Welcomes (2 verses)
Refrain:
Father welcomes all his children
to his family through his Son;
Father giving his salvation,
life forever has been won.
Little children, come to me,
for my kingdom is of these;
life and love I have to give,
mercy for your sin.
Father welcomes all his children
to his family through his Son;
Father giving his salvation,
life forever has been won.
In the water, in the word
in his promise, be assured.
Walk in the love of Christ our Lord,
live in the peace of God.
Father welcomes all his children
to his family through his Son;
Father giving his salvation,
life forever has been won.<

Scripture Reading: Romans 7:15-25a
Reading from Paul’s letter to the Romans
15I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do
what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. 16Now if I do
what I do not want, I agree that the law is good. 17But in
fact it is no longer I that do it, but sin that dwells within me.
18For I know that nothing good dwells within me, that is, in
my flesh. I can will what is right, but I cannot do it. 19For
I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I do.
20Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I that do
it, but sin that dwells within me.
21So I find it to be a law that when I want to do what is
good, evil lies close at hand. 22For I delight in the law of
God in my inmost self, 23but I see in my members another law
at war with the law of my mind, making me captive to the law of sin that
dwells in my members. 24Wretched man that I am! Who will
rescue me from this body of death? 25Thanks be to God through
Jesus Christ our Lord!
Prayer of Confession
Words of Assurance
Thanks be to God. Amen.
Choral Anthem:- Come and find the quiet centre
words Shirley Murray
Scripture Reading: Matthew 11:16-19, 25-30
16‘But to what will I compare this generation? It is like
children sitting in the market-places and calling to one another,
17 “We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we
wailed, and you did not mourn.” 18For John came neither
eating nor drinking, and they say, “He has a demon”; 19the
Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, “Look, a glutton and
a drunkard, a friend of tax-collectors and sinners!” Yet wisdom is
vindicated by her deeds.’
Continuing at verse 25….
25At that time Jesus said, ‘I thank you, Father, Lord of
heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and
the intelligent and have revealed them to infants; 26yes,
Father, for such was your gracious will. 27All things have
been handed over to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the
Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom
the Son chooses to reveal him.
28’Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying
heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon
you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you
will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy, and my
burden is light.’
May the Spirit of God open our eyes to see, our ears to hear,
and our hearts to understand.
Message
We Sing: Take this Moment
Take this moment, sign, and space,
take my friends around.
Here among us make the place
where your love is found.
Take the time to call my name,
take the time to mend
who I am and what I’ve been,
all I’ve failed to tend.
Take the tiredness of my days,
take my past regret,
letting your forgiveness touch
all I can’t forget.
Take the little child in me,
scared of growing old.
Help them here to find their worth,
made in Christ’s own mould.
Take my talents, take my skills,
take what’s yet to be.
Let my life be yours, and yet,
let it still be me.

Offering Prayer
Prayers of the People
…And now with the confidence of the children of God, let us pray the
prayer Jesus taught us saying:
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be Your name,
your Kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in Heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours
now and forever. Amen
We Sing: I heard the voice of Jesus say
I heard the voice of Jesus say,
‘Come unto me and rest;
lay down, O weary one, lay down
your head upon my breast.’
I came to Jesus as I was,
weary and worn and sad;
I found in him a resting-place,
and he has made me glad.
I heard the voice of Jesus say,
‘Behold, I freely give
the living water; thirsty one,
stoop down and drink and live.’
I came to Jesus, and I drank
of that life-giving stream;
my thirst was quenched, my soul revived,
and now I live in him.
I heard the voice of Jesus say,
‘I am this dark world’s light;
look unto me, your morn shall rise,
and all your day be bright.’
I looked to Jesus, and I found
in him my star, my sun;
and in that light of life I’ll walk
till travelling days are done.
