Call to Worship
The cosmos and all it contains come from the mind and the heart of
God.
Let us rejoice in the goodness and creativity of
God.
Today, let us celebrate.
Today, let us be glad that God is with us.
Today, let us worship.
Opening Prayer
God, of love and care, we know we live in a world of competing loyalties. We remember that you are committed to us. In a world of power used to control, we remember your power to free us all. Remind us again on this day that you are a power like no other power and Lord like no other lord. Remind us today of your presence with us always. Amen.
We sing: Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise’
Together in Song 143, v1,2,3,5
Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
in light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
most blèssed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
almighty, victorious, your great name we praise.
Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light,
nor wanting, nor wasting, but ruling in might;
your justice like mountains high soaring above,
your clouds which are fountains of goodness and love.
You give life to all, Lord, to both great and small,
in all life now living, the true life of all;
we blossom and flourish as leaves on a tree,
then wither: but ever unchanged you will be.
All praise we would render: reveal to our sight
what hides you is only the splendour of light;
and so let your glory, Almighty, impart,
through Christ in the story, your Christ to the heart.

Glory to the King of Kings
(TIS 718. Geoff Bullock)
Gospel Reading: John 18:33-37
Then Pilate entered the headquarters again, summoned Jesus, and asked
him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” Jesus answered, “Do you ask this on
your own, or did others tell you about me?” Pilate replied, “I am not a
Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief priests have handed you over to
me. What have you done?” Jesus answered, “My kingdom does not belong to
this world. If my kingdom belonged to this world, my followers would be
fighting to keep me from being handed over to the Jews. But as it is, my
kingdom is not from here.” Pilate asked him, “So you are a king?” Jesus
answered, “You say that I am a king. For this I was born, and for this I
came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to
the truth listens to my voice.”
The Gospel of Christ, Light of the world.
Thanks be to God.

The Lord’s Prayer
And now with the confidence of the children of God, let us pray the prayer Jesus taught us saying…
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be Your name,
your Kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in Heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours
now and forever. Amen.

We Sing: The King of Glory Comes
Together in Song 279
The King of glory comes
the nation rejoices,
open the gates before him,
lift up your voices.
Who is the King of glory, how shall we call him?
He is Immanuel, the promised of ages.
The King of glory comes
the nation rejoices,
open the gates before him,
lift up your voices.
In all of Galilee, in city or village,
he goes among his people curing their illness.
The King of glory comes
the nation rejoices,
open the gates before him,
lift up your voices.
Sing then of David’s son, our Saviour and brother;
in all of Galilee was never another.
The King of glory comes
the nation rejoices,
open the gates before him,
lift up your voices.
He gave his life for us, the pledge of salvation;
he took upon himself the sins of the nation.
The King of glory comes
the nation rejoices,
open the gates before him,
lift up your voices.
He conquered sin and death; he truly has risen,
and he will share with us his heavenly vision.
The King of glory comes,
the nation rejoices;
open the gates before him,
lift up your voices.
The King of glory comes,
the nation rejoices.
