Call to Worship
The world belongs to God
the earth and all its people
It is good to live in community,
to work and talk with each other
Love and faith come together;
justice and peace join hands
We are glad to be in God’s house,
to listen and sing and pray
We sing: Come One, Come All
Let all the earth come join the song
and join the dance for all belong
creation beats with willing hearts
so come on saints, let’s play our part
Come one, come all
to life that’s whole
come one, come all
to love that’s full
The hills and rivers sound their praise
and we join in for our God reigns
come to the table eat your fill
come rest by living waters still
Come one, come all
to life that’s whole
come one, come all
to love that’s full
So take your place and know you’re loved
and spread the word, for there’s enough
to know our God and truly live
creation was made for this
Come one, come all
to life that’s whole
Come one, come all
to love that’s full (x2)
So take your place and know you’re loved
and spread the word for there’s enough
to know our God and truly live
creation was made for this

Opening Prayer
Prayer of Confession
Trusting in God’s forgiveness, Let us in silence confess our failings
And acknowledge our part in the pain of the world.
– Silence
Before God, with the people of God, I confess to turning away from God
in the ways I wound my life, the lives of others and the life of the
world.
May God forgive you, Christ renew you,
And the Spirit enable you to grow in love.
Amen
Before God,
with the people of God
we confess to turning away from God
in the ways we wound our lives,
the lives of the others
and the life of the world.
May God forgive you, Christ renew you, And the Spirit enable you to grow
in love.
Amen
Passing of the Peace
The peace of our God be with you.
And also with you.

Anthem
Healing River of the Spirit (Ruth Duck)
Scripture Reading: Ruth 3:1–5; 4:13–17
Ruth 3:1-5
Naomi her mother-in-law said to her, “My daughter, I need to seek some
security for you, so that it may be well with you. Now here is our
kinsman Boaz, with whose young women you have been working. See, he is
winnowing barley tonight at the threshing floor. Now wash and anoint
yourself and put on your best clothes and go down to the threshing
floor, but do not make yourself known to the man until he has finished
eating and drinking. When he lies down, observe the place where he lies;
then go and uncover his feet and lie down, and he will tell you what to
do.” She said to her, “All that you say I will do.”
Ruth 4:13-17
So Boaz took Ruth, and she became his wife. When they came together, the
Lord made her conceive, and she bore a son. Then the women said to
Naomi, “Blessed be the Lord, who has not left you this day without
next-of-kin, and may his name be renowned in Israel! He shall be to you
a restorer of life and a nourisher of your old age, for your
daughter-in-law who loves you, who is more to you than seven sons, has
borne him.” Then Naomi took the child and laid him in her bosom and
became his nurse. The women of the neighborhood gave him a name, saying,
“A son has been born to Naomi.” They named him Obed; he became the
father of Jesse, the father of David.
Mark 12:38–44
As he taught, he said, “Beware of the scribes, who like to walk around
in long robes and to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to
have the best seats in the synagogues and places of honor at banquets!
They devour widows’ houses and for the sake of appearance say long
prayers. They will receive the greater condemnation.”
He sat down opposite the treasury and watched the crowd putting money
into the treasury. Many rich people put in large sums. A poor widow came
and put in two small copper coins, which are worth a penny. Then he
called his disciples and said to them, “Truly I tell you, this poor
widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the
treasury. For all of them have contributed out of their abundance, but
she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to
live on.”
May the Spirit of God open our eyes to see, our ears to hear,
and our hearts to understand.
Message
We sing: O God, You Search Me
O God, you search me and you know me.
All my thoughts lie open to your gaze.
When I walk or lie down you are before me:
ever the maker and keeper of my days.
You know my resting and my rising.
You discern my purpose from afar,
and with love everlasting you besiege me:
in every moment of life or death, you are.
Before a word is on my tongue, Lord,
you have known its meaning through and through.
You are with me beyond my understanding,
God of my present, my past and future too.
Although your Spirit is upon me,
still I search for shelter from your light.
There is nowhere on earth I can escape you-
even the darkness is radiant in your sight.
For you created me and shaped me,
Gave me life within my mother’s womb.
For the wonder of who I am, I praise you:
safe in your hands, all creation is made new.

Prayers of the People
And now with the confidence of the children of God, let us pray the prayer Jesus taught us saying…
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be Your name,
your Kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in Heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours
now and forever. Amen.

Offering Prayer
We sing: Lord of All Hopefulness
Lord of all hopefulness, Lord of all joy,
whose trust, ever childlike, no cares could destroy,
be there at our waking and give us, we pray,
your bliss in our hearts, Lord, at the break of the day.
Lord of all eagerness, Lord of all faith,
whose strong hands were skilled at the plane and the lathe,
be there at our labours and give us, we pray,
your strength in our hearts, Lord, at the noon of the day.
Lord of all kindliness, Lord of all grace,
your hands swift to welcome, your arms to embrace,
be there at our homing and give us, we pray,
your love in our hearts, Lord, at the eve of the day.
Lord of all gentleness, Lord of all calm,
whose voice is contentment, whose presence is balm,
be there at our sleeping and give us, we pray,
your peace in our hearts, Lord, at the end of the day.
