Call to Worship

Leader 1: Come, lovers of God,
Leader 2: join together in worship.

Leader 1: Come, followers of Christ,
Leader 2: sing and pray, listen and learn.

Leader 1: Come, people of the Spirit,
Leader 2: celebrate and rejoice, hope and be glad.

Leader 1: For our God is good,
Leader 2: and God’s steadfast love is forever.

All: Let us worship God together.

We Sing: All Are Welcome

  1. Let us build a house where love can dwell
    and all can safely live,
    a place where saints and children tell
    how hearts learn to forgive.
    Built of hopes and dreams and visions,
    rock of faith and vault of grace;
    here the love of Christ shall end divisions:

    All are welcome, all are welcome,
    all are welcome in this place.

  2. Let us build a house where hands will reach
    beyond the wood and stone
    to heal and strengthen, serve and teach,
    and live the Word they’ve known.
    Here the outcast and the stranger
    bear the image of God’s face:
    let us bring an end to fear and danger:

    All are welcome, all are welcome,
    all are welcome in this place.

  3. Let us build a house where all are named,
    their songs and visions heard
    and loved and treasured, taught and claimed
    as words within the Word.
    Built of tears and cries and laughter,
    prayers of faith and songs of grace,
    let this house proclaim from floor to rafter:

    All are welcome, all are welcome,
    all are welcome in this place.

Scripture Readings: Psalm 100

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth.
   Worship the Lord with gladness;
   come into God’s presence with singing.

Know that the Lord is God.
   It is God who made us, and we belong to God;
   we are God’s people, and the sheep of God’s pasture.

Enter the gates with thanksgiving,
   and the courts with praise.
   Give thanks to God, blessing God’s name.

For God is good;
   God’s steadfast love endures for ever,
   and God’s faithfulness to all generations.

Choral Anthem

Look at the World by John Rutter

Scripture Reading: Matthew 5:14-16

You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hidden. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.

The Gospel of Christ, Light of the world.
Thanks be to God.

Sermon

We Sing: There’s a Spirit of Love in this Place

  1. There’s a spirit of love in this place,
    there’s a spirit of love in this place.
    You can’t see it but it’s there,
    just as precious as the air;
    There’s a spirit of love in this place.

  2. There’s the presence of peace in this room,
    there’s the presence of peace in this room.
    In God’s tenderness is found
    peace that passes human bounds,
    There’s the presence of peace in this room.

    O alleluia, sing alleluia!
    We bless your holy name
    O alleluia, sing alleluia!
    There’s a spirit of love in this place.

  3. There’s a space for grace in our hearts,
    there’s a space for grace in our hearts.
    It’s in learning to forgive that our spirits truly live.
    There’s a space for grace in our hearts.

    O alleluia, sing alleluia!
    We bless your holy name,
    we bless your name.
    O alleluia, sing alleluia!
    There’s a space for grace,
    there’s the presence of peace,
    there’s a spirit of love in this place.

Prayers of the People

We Sing: We Sing a Love that Sets All People Free

  1. We sing a love that sets all people free,
    that blows like wind, that burns like scorching flame,
    enfolds like earth, springs up like water clear:
    come, living love, live in our hearts today.

  2. We sing a love that seeks another’s good,
    that longs to serve, and not to count the cost,
    a love that, yielding, finds itself made new:
    come, caring love, live in our hearts today.

  3. We sing a love, that, wandering, will not rest
    until it finds its way, its home, its source,
    through joy and sadness pressing on refreshed:
    come, pilgrim love, live in our hearts today.

Celebrating Holy Communion

Setting of the Table

Great Prayer of Thanksgiving

May God be with you.
And also with you.

Lift up your hearts!
We lift them up to our God.

Let us give thanks to God our Creator.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.

… And so we raise our voices, together with heaven and earth, your people throughout all time and in all places, and all of creation, saying:
Holy, holy, holy God, of all creation and life,
Heaven and earth are full of your glory,
Hosanna in the highest!
Blessed is the one who comes in the name of God.
Hosanna in the highest!

The Lord’s Prayer

And now with the confidence of the children of God, let us pray the prayer Jesus taught us saying…

Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be Your name,

your Kingdom come,

your will be done

on earth as in Heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins,

as we forgive those who sin against us.

Save us in the time of trial

and deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power

and the glory are yours

now and forever. Amen.

The Communion

Prayer After Communion

Marking the Conclusion of Placement for Jenni and John Hughes with representatives from Wimala Presbytery

The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make His face to shine upon you,
and be gracious unto you;
the Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
and give peace.

Numbers 6: 24-26

We Sing: For You Deep Stillness

For you, deep stillness of the silent inland;
for you, deep blue of the desert skies;
for you, flame red of the rocks and stones;
for you, sweet water from hidden springs.

From the edges, seek the heartlands,
and when you’re burnt by the journey,
may the cool winds of the hovering Spirit
soothe and replenish you.
In the name of Christ,
In the name of Christ.
