Call to Worship:
Listen to the Stories, they are speaking to us. The Scriptures, the
stories from our first and our second peoples. All are speaking to
us.
Are we listening?
They speak with authority and with hope.
We will listen.
Do we have ears to hear? Space in our mind to quieten the business of
life? A desire for the Holy Spirit to dwell within, afresh today.
Living God: Open our ears to hear, our eyes to see and
our hearts to understand.
Amen.
Prayer
We Sing: Glory
Glory to the King of kings,
Majesty, power and strength to the Lord of lords.
Power and strength to the Lord of lords,
power and strength to the Lord of lords
Holy one, all creation crowns
you King of kings,
holy one, King of kings, Lord of lords, holy one!
Glory to the King of kings,
Majesty, power and strength to the Lord of lords.
Power and strength to the Lord of lords,
power and strength to the Lord of lords
Jesus, Lord, with eyes unveiled
we will see your throne,
Jesus, Prince of Peace, Son of God, Immanuel!
Glory to the King of kings,
Majesty, power and strength to the Lord of lords.
Power and strength to the Lord of lords,
power and strength to the Lord of lords

Prayer of Confession
Eternal Light
shine in our hearts;
Eternal Goodness,
deliver us from evil;
Eternal Power,
be our support;
Eternal Wisdom,
scatter the shadows of our ignorance;
Eternal Compassion,
have mercy on us;
that with heart and mind
and soul and strength
we may seek your face,
and be brought by your infinite mercy
to the Holy Presence;
through Jesus Christ our Saviour.
Amen.
Passing of the Peace
May the peace of God be with you.
And also with you.

Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 12:12-31
One Body with Many Members
For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of
the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in the
one Spirit, we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or
free—and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.
Indeed, the body does not consist of one member but of many. If the foot
would say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that
would not make it any less a part of the body. And if the ear would say,
“Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not
make it any less a part of the body. If the whole body were an eye,
where would the hearing be? If the whole body were hearing, where would
the sense of smell be? But as it is, God arranged the members in the
body, each one of them, as he chose. If all were a single member, where
would the body be? As it is, there are many members yet one body. The
eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head
to the feet, “I have no need of you.” On the contrary, the members of
the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and those members of
the body that we think less honourable we clothe with greater Honor, and
our less respectable members are treated with greater respect, whereas
our more respectable members do not need this. But God has so arranged
the body, giving the greater Honor to the inferior member, that there
may be no dissension within the body, but the members may have the same
care for one another. If one member suffers, all suffer together with
it; if one member is honoured, all rejoice together with it.
Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it. And God
has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third
teachers, then deeds of power, then gifts of healing, forms of
assistance, forms of leadership, various kinds of tongues. Are all
apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work powerful
deeds? Do all possess gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do all
interpret? But strive for the greater gifts. And I will show you a still
more excellent way.
The Gospel of Christ, Light of the world.
Thanks be to God.
We Sing: Shout to the Lord
My Jesus, my Saviour
Lord, there is none like you;
all of my days I want to praise
the wonders of your mighty love.
My comfort, my shelter,
tower of refuge and strength,
let every breath, all that I am,
never cease to worship you.
Shout to the Lord, all the earth
let us sing, power and majesty,
praise to the King.
Mountains bow down and the seas will roar
at the sound of your name.
I sing for joy at the work of your hands;
for ever I’ll love you, for ever I’ll stand.
Nothing compares to the promise I have in you!

Sermon: Part 1
We Sing: Be Thou My Vision
Be thou my vision, O lord of my heart,
naught be all else to me, save that thou art
thou my best thought, by day or by night,
waking or sleeping, thy presence my light.
Be thou my wisdom, be thou my true word;
I ever with thee and thou with me, Lord;
thou my great Father, thy child let me be;
thou in me dwelling, and I one with thee.
Be thou my armour, my sword for the fight,
be thou my dignity, thou my delight;
thou my soul’s shelter and thou my high tower:
raise thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.
Riches I scorn and the world’s empty praise,
thou my inheritance, now and always:
Thou and thou only the first in my heart;
high King of heaven, my treasure thou art.
High King of heaven, after victory won,
may I reach heaven’s joys, O bright heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
still be my vision, O ruler of all.

Empower us Jesus to co-work with you, embracing your values and
your mission, so that all the children of the world may experience the

The Lord’s Prayer
…And now with the confidence of the children of God, let us pray the prayer Jesus taught us saying:
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be Your name,
your Kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in Heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours
now and forever. Amen.
We Sing: Christ Be Our Light
Longing for light, we wait in darkness.
Longing for truth, we turn to you.
Make us your own, your holy people,
light for the world to see.
Christ, be our light! Shine in our hearts.
Shine through the darkness.
Christ, be our light!
Shine in your church gathered today.
Longing for peace, our world is troubled.
Longing for hope, many despair.
Your word alone has power to save us.
Make us your living voice.
Christ, be our light! Shine in our hearts.
Shine through the darkness.
Christ, be our light!
Shine in your church gathered today.
Longing for food, many are hungry.
Longing for water, many still thirst.
Make us your bread, broken for others,
shared until all are fed.
Christ, be our light! Shine in our hearts.
Shine through the darkness.
Christ, be our light!
Shine in your church gathered today.
Longing for shelter, many are homeless.
Longing for warmth, many are cold.
Make us your building, sheltering others
walls made of living stone.
Christ, be our light! Shine in our hearts.
Shine through the darkness.
Christ, be our light!
Shine in your church gathered today.
Many the gifts, many the people,
many the hearts that yearn to belong.
Let us be servants to one another,
making your kingdom come.
Christ, be our light! Shine in our hearts.
Shine through the darkness.
Christ, be our light!
Shine in your church gathered today.
