From Heaven You Came (Together in Song 256. G Kendrick)
Psalm – Psalm 34: 1-8 (The Message)
I bless God every chance I get;
my lungs expand with his praise.
I live and breathe God;
if things aren’t going well, hear this and be happy:
Join me in spreading the news;
together let’s get the word out.
God met me more than halfway,
he freed me from my anxious fears.
Look at him; give him your warmest smile.
Never hide your feelings from him.
When I was desperate, I called out,
and God got me out of a tight spot.
God’s angel sets up a circle
of protection around us while we pray.
Open your mouth and taste,
open your eyes and see – how good God is.
Blessed are you who run to him.
Call to Worship
We come to praise our God.
We bless God, who walks with us.
God surrounds us in all our senses:
taste and see that God is good!
We come to praise our God.
O God, we worship you!
Opening Prayer
Come, Spirit of God,
meet us in this place.
Come, word of God,
break open our hearts.
Come, Creating One,
gather us to you.
Amen.
We sing: All Are Welcome (All Belong)
Choir sings:
Refrain
All are welcome in this place.
Behold Love’s amazing grace.
All are welcome!
All are welcome!
Bring your hopes, bring your dreams.
Mercy flows and Love redeems!
All are welcome!
All belong!
Welcome, all the broken-hearted,
All who sorrow and despair.
You are not alone, for you are God’s own!
Together, we sing and we proclaim!
Please stand and join in
Refrain
All are welcome in this place.
Behold Love’s amazing grace.
All are welcome!
All are welcome!
Bring your hopes, bring your dreams.
Mercy flows and Love redeems!
All are welcome!
All belong!
Welcome, all who suffer violence,
All who long for safety and for peace.
You are not alone, for you are God’s own!
Together, we sing and we proclaim!
Welcome, all who are forgotten,
Excluded and dignity denied!
You are not alone, for you are God’s own!
Together, we sing and we proclaim!
Welcome, all who work for justice,
Bringing hope, charity and peace!
You are not alone, for you are God’s own!
Together, we sing and we proclaim!

Take My Life (Together in Song 599 (i) A. Wilson)
Gospel Reading: Mark 10:46-52
They came to Jericho. As he and his disciples and a large crowd were
leaving Jericho, Bartimaeus son of Timaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting
by the roadside. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began
to shout out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Many
sternly ordered him to be quiet, but he cried out even more loudly, “Son
of David, have mercy on me!” Jesus stood still and said, “Call him
here.” And they called the blind man, saying to him, “Take heart; get
up, he is calling you.” So throwing off his cloak, he sprang up and came
to Jesus. Then Jesus said to him, “What do you want me to do for you?”
The blind man said to him, “My teacher, let me see again.” Jesus said to
him, “Go; your faith has made you well.” Immediately he regained his
sight and followed him on the way.
The Gospel of Christ, Light of the world.
Thanks be to God.
Message
Prayer: Let Me See
Open the eyes of my heart to see your grace in every moment,
to see with hope and gratitude,
with trust and humility.
Teach me to look with my mind as open as my eyes; teach me in every
gaze
to look and see as things really are,
not as I already think they are,
not as fear (mine or anyone’s) tells me to see,
but to see with grace as you see.
Let me see with the eyes of love.
Teacher, let me see anew.
Amen
We sing: Be Thou My Vision
With alternate words
Be Thou my vision O Lord of my heart.
Not be all else to me save that Thou art.
Thou my best thought by day or by night
Waking or sleeping my treasure Thou art.
Be Thou my wisdom and Thou my true word
I ever with Thee and Thou with me Lord
Thou my redeemer my love Thou hast won
Thou in my dwelling and I with Thee one.
Riches I heed not nor vain empty praise
Thou mine inheritance now and always
Thou and Thou only first in my heart
Great God of heaven my treasure Thou art
Great God of heaven my victory won
Now I reach heaven’s joys O bright heaven’s sun
Heart of my own heart whatever be fall
Still be my vision O ruler of all.

Prayers of the People
Response:
God, in your mercy,
hear our prayer.
The Lord’s Prayer
And now with the confidence of the children of God, let us pray the prayer Jesus taught us saying…
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be Your name,
your Kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in Heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours
now and forever. Amen.

Offering Prayer
We Sing: The Summons
Will you come and follow Me
If I but call your name
Will you go where you don’t know
And never be the same
Will you let My love be shown
Will you let My name be known
Will you let My life be grown
In you and you in Me
Will you leave yourself behind
If I but call your name
Will you care for cruel and kind
And never be the same
Will you risk the hostile stare
Should your life attract or scare
Will you let Me answer prayer
In you and you in Me
Will you let the blinded see
If I but call your name
Will you set the prisoners free
And never be the same
Will you kiss the leper clean
And do such as this unseen
And admit to what I mean
In you and you in Me
Will you love the you you hide
If I but call your name
Will you quell the fear inside
And never be the same
Will you use the faith you’ve found
To reshape the world around
Through My sight and touch and sound
In you and you in Me

Sending Forth and Final Benediction
We go back out into the world to love and serve the world around
us,
just as this church fellowship has done for 165
years.
We go out, held in the loving arms of God who creates, redeems,
supports, and sustains us.
We go, scaffolded with love.
Thanks be to God. Amen.
