We touch our hearts and say:
Thank you, Kaurna people.
Lighting of the Candles
Our souls wait for God, more than those who watch for the morning. More
than those who watch for the morning, our souls wait.
With hope in our hearts, we watch and wait.
The candles are lit
We Sing: Let All Who Are Thirsty Come
Once the candles have been lit, you are
invited to stand and sing.
Let all who are thirsty come.
Let all who wish receive the water of life
freely.
Amen, come Lord Jesus.
Amen, come Lord Jesus…
Repeat until the Leader sings
Amen.
Call to Worship
We come with all our hopes and longings.
We gather here to worship God.
We come to find rest for our souls.
We gather here to worship God.
We come with all our disappointments and dreams.
We gather here to worship God.
We come to gain strength for our lives.
We gather here to worship God.
Come, let us worship.
Opening Prayer
Including sung Alleluia’s
Please remain seated and join in the Alleluia’s as led by the musicians.
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!
God of all our longings, you are the fire that kindles our hearts with
hope and possibility.
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!
You fill us with desire for life. You hear our voices whether we shout
for joy or cry out with sorrow.
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!
We trust in you and give thanks for your presence in all the stages of
our lives. Help us to be open to the movement of your Holy Spirit in
your world. Amen.
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!
Psalm: Psalm 130 (Contemporary English Version)
From a sea of troubles
I cry out to you, Lord.
Won’t you please listen
as I beg for mercy?
If you kept record of our sins,
no one could last long.
But you forgive us,
and so we will worship you.
With all my heart,
I am waiting, Lord, for you!
I trust your promises.
I wait for you more eagerly
than a soldier on guard duty
waits for the dawn.
Yes, I wait more eagerly
than a soldier on guard duty
waits for the dawn.
Israel, trust the Lord!
God is always merciful
and has the power to save you.
Israel, the Lord will save you
from all your sins.
Prayer of Confession
Out of our depths, we cry to you, O God. You know us better than we know
ourselves. You know our hurts and fears and discouragements. We are
sorry when our actions and non-actions hurt others. Heal us when we give
up hope and allow fear and shallow self-interest to dominate our lives.
Help us when we lose sight of who we are and forgive us when we make
enemies of those you have given us to love.
Out of our depths, we cry to you, O God.
Amen.
We Sing: God is Forgiveness
Please remain seated as we sing.
God is forgiveness.
Dare to forgive and God will be with you.
God is forgiveness.
Love and do not fear…
Passing of the Peace
The peace of our God be with you.
And also with you.

Gospel Reading: Mark 5:21-43 (New Revised Standard Version Updated Edition)
As per the Taizé practice please stand as you are able and face the Bible.
When Jesus had crossed again in the boat to the other side, a great
crowd gathered around him, and he was by the sea. Then one of the
leaders of the synagogue, named Jairus, came and, when he saw him, fell
at his feet and pleaded with him repeatedly, “My little daughter is at
the point of death. Come and lay your hands on her, so that she may be
made well and live.” So he went with him.
And a large crowd followed him and pressed in on him. Now there was a
woman who had been suffering from a flow of blood for twelve years. She
had endured much under many physicians and had spent all that she had,
and she was no better but rather grew worse. She had heard about Jesus
and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, for she said,
“If I but touch his cloak, I will be made well.” Immediately her flow of
blood stopped, and she felt in her body that she was healed of her
disease. Immediately aware that power had gone forth from him, Jesus
turned about in the crowd and said, “Who touched my cloak?” And his
disciples said to him, “You see the crowd pressing in on you; how can
you say, ‘Who touched me?’” He looked all around to see who had done it.
But the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came in fear and
trembling, fell down before him, and told him the whole truth. He said
to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be
healed of your disease.”
While he was still speaking, some people came from the synagogue
leader’s house to say, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the teacher
any further?” But overhearing what they said, Jesus said to the
synagogue leader, “Do not be afraid; only believe.” He allowed no one to
follow him except Peter, James, and John, the brother of James. When
they came to the synagogue leader’s house, he saw a commotion, people
weeping and wailing loudly. When he had entered, he said to them, “Why
do you make a commotion and weep? The child is not dead but sleeping.”
And they laughed at him. Then he put them all outside and took the
child’s father and mother and those who were with him and went in where
the child was. Taking her by the hand, he said to her, “Talitha koum,”
which means, “Little girl, get up!” And immediately the girl stood up
and began to walk about (she was twelve years of age). At this they were
overcome with amazement. He strictly ordered them that no one should
know this and told them to give her something to eat.
The Gospel of Christ, Light of the world.
Thanks be to God.
