Call to Worship
From Psalm 98
The psalmist calls us to sing – to sing to God!
We will sing a song to God;
God has done marvellous things.
The psalmist calls us to shout for joy – to shout for joy to God!
We will shout for joy and burst into song;
With all we have, we will make music to God.
The sea resounds.
The rivers clap their hands.
The mountains sing for joy.
We will join with all the earth to sing.
We will join with all creation to shout for joy.
Praise God!
We Sing: Shout to the Lord
Sing through twice.
My Jesus, my Saviour Lord, there is none like you;
all of my days I want to praise
the wonders of your mighty love.
My comfort, my shelter, tower of refuge and strength,
let every breath, all that I am,
never cease to worship you.
Shout to the Lord, all the earth
let us sing, power and majesty,
praise to the King.
Mountains bow down and the seas will roar
at the sound of your name.
I sing for joy at the work of your hands;
for ever I’ll love you, for ever I’ll stand.
Nothing compares to the promise I have in you!

Opening Prayer
Prayer of Confession
Words of Grace
…Know that you are loved.
You are loved,
We are loved.
Thanks be to God. Amen
Passing of the Peace
May the peace of God be with you.
And also with you.
We Sing: There’s a Wideness in God’s Mercy
There’s a wideness in God’s mercy
like the wideness of the sea,
and forgiveness in his justice
sealed for all on Calvary.
For the love of God is broader
than the measures of the mind;
and the heart of the Eternal
is most wonderfully kind.
But we make God’s love too narrow
by false limits of our own,
and we magnify God’s strictness
with a zeal God will not own.
If our love were but more simple
we should take God at his word;
and our lives would be illumined
by the goodness of our Lord.

Scripture Reading: John 15:9-17
As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you; abide in my love. If
you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept
my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. I have said these things
to you so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be
complete.
“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.
No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s
friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. I do not call
you servants any longer, because the servant does not know what the
master is doing, but I have called you friends, because I have made
known to you everything that I have heard from my Father. You did not
choose me, but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear fruit,
fruit that will last, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask
him in my name. I am giving you these commands so that you may love one
another.

Thanks be to God.
Message
We Sing: What a Friend We Have in Jesus
What a friend we have in Jesus
all our sins and griefs to bear,
what a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer:
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
all because we do not carry
everything to God in prayer.
Have we trials and temptations,
is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Are we weak and heavy-laden,
cumbered with a load of care?
Jesus is our only refuge;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do your friends despise, forsake you?
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
in his arms he’ll take and shield you,
you will find a solace there.

Great Prayer of Thanksgiving
Let us give our thanks to God:
May God be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts!
We lift them up to our God.
Let us give thanks to God our Creator.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
Loving God…
…We join together with the voices of heaven and earth and all of
creation, saying:
Holy, holy, holy God, of all creation and life,
Heaven and earth are full of your glory,
Hosanna in the highest!
Blessed is the one who comes in the name of God.
Hosanna in the highest!
For your kindness…
… and be his faithful followers, showing your love for the world.
Through Christ, with Christ, in Christ,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
all honour and glory is yours, God of Love,
for ever and ever, Amen.
The Lord’s Prayer
Let us pray together in the words that Jesus taught us:
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be Your name,
your Kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in Heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours
now and forever. Amen.
The Breaking of the Bread
We break this bread and take this cup so that we can all share in the
life of Christ.
The gifts of God for the people of God.
The Communion
Prayer After Communion
We thank you for this meal, God of love, and for welcoming us to this
table.
May our lives be strengthened to follow the example of
Jesus,
who called us to share love and to serve others.
May God’s Spirit draw us closer
so that we may be found
centred in God’s grace, enfolded in God’s love,
and reflecting God’s light into the world. Amen
We Sing: Filled with the Spirit’s Power
Filled with the Spirit’s power, with one accord
the infant church confessed its risen Lord:
O Holy Spirit, in the church today
no less your power of fellowship display.
Now with the mind of Christ set us on fire,
that unity may be our great desire:
give joy and peace; give faith to hear your call,
and readiness in each to work for all.
Widen our love, good Spirit, to embrace
in your strong care all those of every race:
like wind and fire with life among us move
till we are known as Christ’s, and Christians prove.
